November 20, 2008There were several reasons that enabled the Americans to win the Revolutionary War. First, the Americans were fighting for independence and had knowledge of the land on which the war took place. To many British at home, the war was not popular because it seemed that it was a sort of civil war with Englishmen fighting Englishmen. The British government had to hire foreign soldiers to help with the war effort (Hessians). The British were fighting 3,000 miles from home, thus creating a supply problem.

November 14, 2008Danish silversmith Georg Jensen. Born in 1866, when he was 14 years old Jensen began work as an apprentice to a goldsmith. He worked with ceramicists and silversmiths until 1904 when he opened his own silversmith shop. He became renowned for his flatware and jewelry. In an effort to make products that were both serviceable and beautiful and that the average consumer could afford, Jensen was the first to profit from the production of silverware.
